Racing
Times: the main club racing day is Sunday, when there are normally two races at midday and 2:30pm. From mid-May until late September, there is also racing on a Wednesday afternoon. See the Sailing Programme page for more details.
Classes: the racing is on a Handicap basis, using the usual Portsmouth Yardstick. The commonest classes at the club are:
Laser – probably the most popular class in the club, with numbers in double figures.
Topper – a smaller single-hander, with many sailed at UTLSC, particularly popular with younger sailors, but very successfully sailed by club members of all ages
Bosun – a very stable and reassuring dinghy, heavier than most. Designed as a double-hander but sometimes sailed single-handed at the club.
Other classes sailed include Solo, Enterprise, Graduate, Otter etc, but any dinghy with a PY (or even without) is very welcome.

A video of club racing, shot and edited by John Dabbs, which is available on YouTube, gives an excellent idea of what it is like to sail at Upper Tamar:
