4th November 2024 Race Report

Frostbite 7

Sue Murray’s Laser was the first to cross the start line but the 4.7 square metre sail she was flying
was never going to be enough on a day of very light winds coming from the south and east. Bob
Sampson, with a full-sized sail on his Laser, was ahead at the first buoy, Dam Green, and then led
each of the three laps. Linda Spiller, with the middle-sized Radial sail on her Laser, was also ahead of
the 4.7 at Dam Green. First to break the Laser procession was Nathan in the Pollard Tasar, Adam
Hilton as crew. Then Dave Perrett took his Solo from fifth at the second buoy, Inlet, to second at the
end of lap 2, a position the handicaps allowed him to keep.

  1. Bob Sampson (Laser Full)
  2. Dave Perrett (Solo)
  3. Linda Spiller(Laser Radial)
  4. Sue Murray (Laser 4.7)
  5. Vicki Duncalf (Topper)
  6. Nathan Pollard and Adam Hilton (Tasar)

Frostbite 5

The winds were so feeble that the only lap took Bob Sampson, the leader, half an hour to complete.
John Dabbs’ Bosun, Natasha Routley as crew, took an age to even reach the first buoy. Nathan
Pollard, now doing better sailing the Tasar single-handed, was able to overtake Bob Sampson and
after disposing of Dave Perrett’s Solo, led. The Tasar’s miserable handicap permitted no victory
however.

  1. Bob Sampson (Laser Full)
  2. Dave Perrett (Solo)
  3. Linda Spiller (Laser Full)
  4. Nathan Pollard (Tasar)
  5. John Dabbs and Natasha Routley (Bosun)

Thanks were given to the Race Officer, Robin Spiller, and to the photographers, Mandy Pollard and
Natasha Routley. Thanks were also given to Brian Pollard and Natasha Routley for manning and womaning the safety boat.
